KODE9
Kode9 aka Steve Goodman is one of dubstep's foundational figures. He was a key DJ at FWD>>, the London party that incubated dubstep in its infancy, and hosted the party's radio show on Rinse FM. In 2004 he set up Hyperdub, a platform for his dubwise productions as Kode9 alongside The Spaceape. From the label's early stages he was sniffing out fresh dubstep mutations—in 2006, he signed Burial, an artist who would become one of the decade's most influential producers.
12 years later, his label Hyperdub has morphed into one of the most influential labels in bass music with releases from: Zomby, The Bug/King Midas Sound, DJ Rashad, Joker, Laurel Halo, Jessy Lanza, Cooly G and Hype Williams.
Goodman's DJ sets as Kode9 soak up the cutting edge of pretty much any dance music style--zipping through house, techno, grime, footwork and hip-hop, plus a bunch of stuff we don't even have a name for.
DIMOND SAINTS
Deep in the heart of the Dimond District in the land of oaks, out of the ashes and the bleakness comes a new sound tearing and bursting the bubble of mediocrity. The music drips of passion, boldness, and the unknown. We are the Dimond Saints.
THE LIBRARIAN
Shhhhhhhh! Andrea Graham is known as the Librarian, but don't be fooled by her deceptively quiet composure. The Bass Coast Music Festival's co-founder and music curator has been making some very loud noises up and down the Pacific Northwest for the better part of a decade. Her knack for blending total dance floor destruction with sly subtleties and hot new exclusives makes for a consistently accessible, yet undeniably future sound. Indeed, her festival's carefully crafted music line-up is a perfect mirror of her style. Serving up a veritable who's who of the West Coast bass scene and reaching deep both backwards and forwards, The Librarian offers up unabashedly hard-hitting low-end bliss paired with thoughtful, sophisticated chops.
ADDISON GROOVE
Addison Groove is, in fact, an alias of Headhunter, a dubstep mainstay who’s released a multitude of singles for Tempa as well as an album for the label, Nomad. He’s been playing Chicago juke in his DJ sets for a while now, and his work as Addison Groove is where that influence is allowed to come to the forefront, with stripped down drum machine beats, acid basslines and hip-hop / booty-leaning vocals.
